First Calf Born on Property

We’ve had our first calf!

We had been watching her mother expectantly.  About 1 week ago, while feeding the other cattle, I noticed this little youngster come sniffing up to my knee.  I thought she was another calf that we had purchased, but then I looked up and saw the other calf across the barn, so I realized we had a new cow.  She must have been born sometime over the past 24 hours, and everything apparently went well.  She appears to be suckling her mother and the mother appears well, so so far, so good.

Here is the other bull-calf that we purchased.  soon, he’ll be the future of the herd!
