This group was from all over, with many members from Illinois, but others spread across the west coast including Hawaii. They rented cabins for 3 nights, and so had plenty of time to get settled, enjoy the property, and get prepared for the big day. For Friday night, their rehearsal dinner was held at a wonderful nearby VRBO property, 695274. They decided to have their ceremony in front of one of our cabins, with the wonderful fall view of Hanging Rock, and despite some wind, it was a very clear, beautiful evening. Sara McPherson helped with a lot of the event planning, while Ellen Huffhines helped with coordinating the wedding. Guests initially parked along the cabin’s driveway for the ceremony, followed by an easy walk to the ceremony. The cabin is designed in such a way that guests could come inside, use the rest room, warm up, or get something to drink without disturbing the wedding party. After the ceremony, most guests drove down to the ceremony in their own cars, while we shuttled a few. The reception was held both indoors and outside. Indoors was used for the main buffet, the nacho table, as well as for gifts, and about 1/3 of the guests’ tables. The covered area outside contained the cupcakes, the dance floor, the bar, the music (they used a computer and our house system), as well as the bride’s table. Catering for this one used only the couples favorites, Subway sandwiches and pizza from Coppola’s in Mt. Airy, NC. Chris Rich was an excellent bartender. There was a gas fireplace in the indoor area, and a wood fire for S’mores in the pool area. Photos were taken by Laura Kruger Photography.
