This week’s group has family right down the road, and I enjoyed meeting many of them and am glad we got them in here to celebrate their wedding. This was an express wedding, booked only 2 months ago, since the bride’s brother is going into service with the Marines. She said she just couldn’t get married without him there – a nice gesture by a very nice group. They came in on Friday and rented all 3 cabins for two nights. They began decorating and, after rehearsal, went out for dinner at a local restaurant. The bride was able to provide her own flowers and did an excellent job. The ceremony was out in the covered area. Since it is still winter, we kept the enclosures down until just before the ceremony, since the enclosures really block the wind, and the vinyl windows provide a lot of passive solar. Right before the wedding party came out, we lit the space heaters and opened the enclosures, and they were able to enjoy the feel of an outdoor wedding. After the ceremony, the guests adjourned into heated spaces for the rest of the night, with the remainder of the party indoors. They enjoyed some appetizers while the group took photos, and Aunt Bea’s Catering set up the buffet in the covered area. Dane Joyce provided music for the ceremony and for the reception and did an excellent job. We set up all tables and created a space for the dance floor indoors, so they were able to enjoy a comfortable night for the rest of the evening. The wedding party also provided the cake and cupcakes. Lauren Elizabeth Photography did an excellent job taking pictures and was actually able to give a sneak peak later that same night.
