This group made the most of a rainy weekend and still managed to have a great time. They had originally planned to get married in the field beyond the covered bridge, but they chose to have their ceremony under the covered area when the forecast clearly showed some wet and stormy weather. Under the covered area, they were still able to enjoy the feel of an outdoor wedding while the 272 guests enjoyed the security of the comfortable shelter. They also provided a delicious buffet prepared by Dennis and Jane Ruff, and, after some re-arranging, we were able to provide a seat at tables for all of their guests despite the inclement weather, including some on the front porch of the venue. They members of the wedding party had previously made all of their own cloth napkins for the tables. The mother of the bride helped with a lot of the flowers, but Brent Seckman also contributed and did a great job with the flowers on the arbor. Meredith Van Meter helped as the photographer. Dewey’s Bakery provided the individualized apple, cherry, and pecan pies. The pool was used as a bar area. Buffets were in the indoor area, along with some extra tables. After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktails and hours d’ouvres in the indoor area, pool area, and front porch while we re-arranged the covered area into the main reception area. Jarryd Moxley was the DJ and provided excellent sound during the ceremony and the reception. It rained intermittently throughout the night, but it actually helped to cool things off nicely, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Many guests represented the US Navy, and we are grateful for their service.
